I have woven the theme of reading into each of my proposed creative routes, ensuring it complements The Journey book and the story of HH Sheikh Mohammed's official activities for 2016 without overshadowing the main purpose of the gift. I have accomplished this by creatively utilizing materials and packaging, incorporating reading-related words and symbols into the graphic design, and including practical items that can be used in conjunction with reading.
While maintaining the premium nature of the gift, I have prioritized uniqueness, innovation, practicality, and affordability. By sourcing the best materials and suppliers, I have strived to create a gift that is both exceptional and cost-effective.
THE DESIGN CONCEPT
The outer casing is a solid box of light stain wood with natural grain. Burned into the surface of the lid is a quote by HH Sheikh Mohammed done in calligraphic style. The quote speaks of the importance of reading for a nation and is therefore symbolically placed in the shape of the UAE. The quote is repeated in English and Arabic as a title.
Importantly the box has been cleverly designed to provide several other functions to support the theme of Reading. It easily dismantles into several pieces that convert into a bookstand and two sets of bookends.
The Journey is inlaid into an inner box with lid that also houses the gift items which include a 3D printed bookmark.
